Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out if you cannot find an answer to your question.

As a Clinical Psychologist with many years of experience in private practice, I provide therapy to couples, children, adolescents, and parents/carers across a broad range of emotional, behavioural, and relational concerns. My approach is tailored, evidence-based, and developmentally appropriate.

Fees start from $200 per hour depending on the service being provided. I ensure that they align with industry rates. I know that times can be tough, and payment plans can be discussed if there are any financial concerns.

Therapy for children and adolescents may be eligible for Medicare rebates where a valid referral (e.g. Mental Health Treatment Plan) is in place. Please speak to your GP about this.

Couples therapy is not eligible for Medicare rebates.

I also work with NDIS participants (self-managed or plan-managed) where psychological support is identified as a funded goal. Services are available for children, adolescents, and young adults with an NDIS plan.

Fees are payable on the day of the appointment. A cancellation fee may apply for non-attendance or late notice (less than 48 hours).

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin exploring what has brought you—or your child, family, or relationship—to therapy. This session typically involves a mix of conversation, questions, and reflection to help me understand your concerns, goals, and what support might be most helpful. By the end of the session, we’ll discuss next steps and whether continuing together feels like the right fit.

There’s no pressure to share everything at once; we move at a pace that feels safe and manageable.

For children and teens, I often spend time with both the young person and their parent or carer to build a full picture of the situation. Sometimes, I ask that the parent/carer attend an initial session so that I can understand important developmental and background information about their child.

Couples may attend together or individually at first, depending on what feels most comfortable.

You're welcome to bring any relevant documents or notes, though it's not required.

Confidentiality is a priority, and I’ll explain its boundaries clearly - especially when working with young people.

Feeling nervous is completely normal, and part of my role is to create a calm, respectful, and supportive space where you can feel at ease.

No referral is needed to book an appointment.

However, if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate under a Mental Health Care Plan, you’ll need a referral from a GP, paediatrician, or psychiatrist.

Yes, Medicare rebates are available for individual therapy sessions for children, adolescents, and parents/carers with a valid Mental Health Care Plan.

Please note that couples therapy is not eligible for Medicare rebates.

Yes. I provide therapy for self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants with funding for psychological services. I work with children and adolescents under the NDIS.

As a small practice, I set aside time specifically for each client, and late cancellations often mean I’m unable to offer that time to someone else in need. In line with recommendations from the Australian Psychological Society, the following fees apply if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment:

  • The full session fee will be charged if less than 24 hours’ notice is given
  • 50% of the session fee will be charged if 24–48 hours’ notice is given

Please note that cancellations can only be accepted during standard business hours (Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm). If you need to make a change, I encourage you to get in touch as early as possible. I understand that unexpected situations can arise, and I’ll always aim to approach these conversations with compassion and understanding.

Yes, telehealth appointments are available for eligible clients. These can be discussed on a case-by-case basis to ensure they’re suitable for your needs.

Yes. For children and younger adolescents, parental/carer involvement is important. Sometimes it is essential and our sessions will be dyadic. I will provide regular feedback and work collaboratively with you while respecting your child’s developing autonomy and privacy.

The only way to do great work is to love what you do.
